FR - Grégoire Soussan est un artiste-photographe français né à Bordeaux en 1975. A l'âge de 14 ans, il se passionne pour la photographie et réalise ses premiers clichés sur l'île de Saint Martin où il passe son enfance.Plus tard, il photographie des personnalités comme Henri Salvador, John Travolta, Penelope Cruz, Zinédine Zidane et Mikhaïl Gorbatchev.Après des années de discipline et d'extrême rigueur, il devient artiste, l'art étant devenu pour lui le seul moyen d'expression capable d'aborder les diverses idées qui le fascinent. En effet, Grégoire, seul auteur de toutes ses photographies, estime que ses images ne doivent pas refléter un discours préexistant mais, au contraire, créer un discours qui leur est propre.
Il se révèle au public dans une exposition personnelle en succédant à Lionel Estève et John Armleder au Château de Vert Mont, dans laquelle il propose un dialogue entre peinture et photographie. L'idée de Soussan de placer un nu sous les toiles d'Armleder eut un grand retentissement, le charme et la sensualité du modèle se mêlant à la volupté et à l'intelligence des toiles. Avec sa photographie exceptionnelle, Grégoire a donné vie aux peintures et magnifié le rôle de la photographie.Exploitant la perfection du médium et appliquant un niveau de créativité intense, Soussan produit des photographies vibrantes traversées par une humanité puissante et un sens de l'humour qui flirte parfois avec la provocation. Chacune de ses images raconte une histoire ou détourne l'Histoire, interrogeant notre perception du réel et de la fiction, de l'interdit et du banal, de l'iconique et du symbolique, de l'uniformité et de la diversité.Pour l'œuvre « Mayan Vibration » Grégoire utilise la photographie sous-marine dans les grottes « Cenotes » de Quintana Roo au Mexique. Ré-éclairer avec des lampes étanches pour que les images ressemblent à des peintures. L'ennui et la répétition sont des termes qui doivent être bannis dans toute définition non seulement de son art mais aussi de sa vie. Apprendre et désapprendre et faire en sorte que la technique soit au service de la créativité sont les seuls mots d'ordre.
EN - Grégoire Soussan is a French artist-photographer born in Bordeaux in 1975. At the age of 14 he became fascinated by photography, taking his first shots on the island of Saint Martin, where he spent his childhood.
Later, he photographs leading figures, including Henri Salvador, John Travolta, Penelope Cruz, Zinédine Zidane and Mikhail Gorbachev.
After years of discipline and extreme rigor, he became an artist, art having become for him the only means of expression capable of addressing the various ideas by which he was fascinated. In effect, Grégoire, the sole author of all his photographs, believes that his images should not mirror a pre-existing discourse but, instead, create a discourse of their own.
He was revealed to the public in a personal exhibition following Lionel Estève and John Armleder at the Château de Vert Mont, in which he proposed a dialogue between painting and photography. Soussan’s idea of placing a nude under Armleder’s paintings had a great impact, the charm and sensuality of the model combining with the voluptuousness and intelligence of the paintings. With his outstanding photography, Grégoire gave life to the paintings and magnified the role of photography.
Exploiting the perfection of the medium and applying an intense level of creativity, Soussan produces vibrant photographs shot through with a powerful humanity and a sense of humor that sometimes flirts with provocation. Every one of his images tells a story or reroutes History, questioning our perception of reality and fiction, of the forbidden and the banal, of the iconic and the symbolic, and of uniformity and diversity..
For the work " Mayan Vibration " Grégoire uses underwater photography in the "Cenotes" caves of quintana roo in Mexico. Re-illuminating with waterproof lamps to make images look like paintings. Boredom and repetition are terms that must be banished in any definition not only of his art but also of his life. Learning and unlearning and ensuring that technique is a servant of creativity are the only watchwords.

BURN OUT
FR - Grégoire Soussan témoin inlassable des faits de société et du comportement humain, présente BURN OUT, série de photographies qui se déploie comme la mise en abîme d’une société en surchauffe.
L’artiste choisit de parcourir la diversité des comportements, des changements sociaux et les états de conscience actuels marqués par une forme d’épuisement. À travers cette série inédite, il capture, au moyen d’un certain lyrisme, les conséquences de l’accélération du temps, la perte de contrôle de nos actes et de notre environnement. Témoin et observateur aiguisé, Grégoire Soussan ne manque pas d’attiser notre curiosité sur sa vision parfois chaotique du monde actuel.
Dresser un portrait morose du monde moderne ? En aucun cas car ce serait sans compter sur l’humour, la sensualité, l’esthétisme qui caractérisent ses oeuvres et permettent à l’artiste d’aborder ces thématiques.
Dans cette exposition, l’idée est d’amener le regardeur à aborder la photographie par la séduction. Comme une parade amoureuse, il magnifie le chaos pour mieux vous saisir, pour mieux s’interroger.
Le tout, porté par le language du feu, les yeux se figent pour contempler la beauté de l’inquiétant, du repoussant, de l’immoral.
Au moyen de la photographie, Grégoire se met au défi d’incarner le bouleversement en partant d’un incendie au Costa Rica à la fureur d’un homme, la luxure d’un corp . Une à une, toutes ces visions nous happent par leur force. Mais alors le feu qui nous brûle serait-il un phénix à en devenir ?
EN - Grégoire Soussan, a tireless witness to the facts of society and human behavior, presents BURN OUT, a series of photographs that unfolds like the mise en abyme of an overheated society. The artist chooses to explore the diversity of behaviors, social changes and current states of consciousness marked by a form of exhaustion. Through this new series, he captures, by means of a certain lyricism, the consequences of the acceleration of time, the loss of control of our actions and our environment. Witness and sharp observer, Grégoire Soussan does not fail to arouse our curiosity on his sometimes chaotic vision of the current world. Draw a gloomy portrait of the modern world? In no case because it would be without counting on the humor, the sensuality, the aestheticism which characterize his works and allow the artist to approach these themes. In this exhibition, the idea is to bring the viewer to approach photography through seduction. Like a love parade, it magnifies the chaos to better grasp you, to better question yourself. The whole, carried by the language of fire, the eyes freeze to contemplate the beauty of the disturbing, the repulsive, the immoral. By means of photography, Grégoire challenges himself to embody the upheaval starting from a fire in Costa Rica to the fury of a man, the lust of a body. One by one, all these visions grab us by their force. But then the fire that burns us would it be a phoenix to become? FR - Exposition au château de Vert-Mont, haut lieu de l'art contemporain après avoir reçu successivement les artistes Lionel Estève puis John Arlméder accueille Grégoire Soussan qui y proposera un dialogue entre peinture et photographie. L ’artiste va faire sensation grâce à sa proposition qui met en scène un nu en équilibre sous les peintures d’Armléder où la sensualité et le charme du modèle rencontrent la volupté et l’intelligence des peintures. L'exposition comporte différentes séries photographiques de l'artiste ainsi que des vidéos " Anonymes, le morphing " et " Bubble fiction ".
